Mike Tuggle was born in Oklahoma and grew up all over Texas. Residing in Sonoma County since 1981, he taught in the California Poets in the Schools Program from 1975 to 2003 in San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma Counties. He is recipient of a Sonoma County Foundation Award in Poetry, a Dickens Award in Fiction, and the Oberon Poetry Prize. He is the author of ABSOLUTE ELSEWHERE, a collection of poetry published by Philos Press, and CAZADERO POEMS, a chapbook with the poet Susan Kennedy, published by Floating Island. His new collection, THE SINGING ITSELF, will be published by Running Wolf Press in January. He is the current Poet Laureate of Sonoma County.
